The INTERSOLAR Europe Fair, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry, took place in May in Munich. During this event, ELECNOR DEIMOS and GUDNUS presented the prototype of the APPIDE project whose development is expected to begin as soon as possible and whose commercial exploitation will be jointly carried out by both companies.
APPIDE, which owes its acronym to “Automatic Photovoltaic Plant Inspection and Data Exploitation”, arises after identifying the need in the solar industry to automate the analysis of data collected by electro-optical sensors, both in the visible and infrared spectrum, as well as , the associated radiometric data, during the inspections on photovoltaic plants with the aim of detecting incidents in them that minimize the performance in the generation of energy.
ELECNOR DEIMOS and GUDNUS presented the prototype of APPIDE’s project during the Intersolar Event of this May in Munich, Germany, rousing great interest among the solar industry
Currently, the analysis of the data is done manually, which translates into important expenses in terms of time and manpower. Moreover, since it is a long, tedious and repetitive task, the likelihood of errors committed by the operator (Human Factor) increases considerably with the size of the plant to be inspected. For this reason, the APPIDE project proposes the development of a tool that, through the usage of Autonomous Drones together with Artificial Intelligence and Precise Positioning technologies directly derived from the space sector, is able to detect, identify and accurately locate the possible incidents in a photovoltaic plant.
ELECNOR DEIMOS and GUDNUS intend to provide thermography services based on the use of the tool developed in the APPIDE project, taking advantage of the extensive and proven experience of GUDNUS in the provision of this type of services with drones and the capabilities of ELECNOR DEIMOS for the needed technology developments.
The solution proposed by ELECNOR DEIMOS and GUDNUS has had a great acceptance among the attendees to the event, both exhibitors and visitors, and augurs a very promising future, positioning itself as one of the most innovative services in the current solar market.
