PIS for RENFE commuter rail network

Since 2006, RENFE relies on Alhambra ISS®
as the passenger information system
for its commuter rail network

Ever since the company won its first two tenders with RENFE (main Spanish railway operator) to deploy an passenger information system in the commuter rail network of Barcelona and Valencia in 2006, RENFE has trusted Elecnor Deimos to provide the best service in its commuter rail networks with Alhambra ISS®.

Alhambra ISS is a Passenger Information System (PIS), tailored to the needs of information passengers have in intercity train networks. It provides information about train schedules, arrival and departure times to stations and platforms, information of circulating trains such as real arrival and departure times to stations (adjusted with delays) or real platform inferred by the system from the entry route established by the CTC, and disruptions of traffic such as cancellation and suppression of trains. It also provides information derived from the manual operation in the system.

Alhambra ISS shows traffic-related information in the following devices:

• Public Address (PA) systems
• Net-monitors
• LED/LCD displays

Currently, Alhambra ISS is already a consolidated system that has been deployed in the commuter networks of Cercanías de Seville, Rodalies de Catalonia, Cercanías de Valencia and Cercanías de Málaga. These commuter networks have more than 1,000 km in length, more than 200 stations and serve metropolitan areas with more than 9.2 million inhabitants. Alhambra ISS® gives information to more than 400,000 travellers a day.

Elecnor Deimos has been in charge of the engineering, supply, installation, deployment, commissioning of the passenger information systems of these commuter networks, being currently responsible for their integral maintenance.
